SliQ - Not Just Quick - Intro & Instruction.

SliQ – Not Just Quick

Introducing a brand new and simple system for maintaining your valued and quite probably the most and important component of your chosen equipment – Bearings……

It could be your Quad Skates, Inlines, Skate Board, Long Board or Scooter. They all depend on one vital piece of equipment to make sure you carry on enjoying them – Bearings……

I have developed a simple and effective process for ensuring you have all you need to thoroughly clean your bearings with the SliQ cleaning system.

The cleaning system includes a specially developed canister, citrus degreaser and the SliQ lubricant which has been developed specifically for fine machinery that endures high speeds and heat.

Once cleaned correctly by following the simple instructions and applying the SliQ lubricant your bearings will be good to go; Not Just Quick but SliQ……

However - Should your bearings be beyond recovery and you need replacement bearings then look no further and get your SliQ - ABEC9 chrome steel or Hybrid Ceramic Si3N4 bearings right here.

Please find some simple instructions below:

Instructions:

Gently remove the non-contact rubber shield of the bearing by prying upwards from the centre using a sewing needle or a tailor’s pin. Gently wipe them clean using a clean cloth or use soapy water. If you choose to use soapy water, make sure to dry the shields completely before putting them back onto the bearing.

I have tried many cleaners and solvents and have found the Citrus-based SliQ degreaser works best and is of course a completely natural product and friendly to the environment. Solvents are more dangerous to use and you need to dispose of the solvent responsibly and carefully. I do not recommend using any other types of cleaning products with the SliQ cleaning system as they may affect the container and your bearings. 1. Take your bearings and place them on the axles (metal rods on the lid) alternating from one bearing to one spacer till all your bearings are on the axles. Fasten them down finger tight onto the axle using the wing nut. 2. Pour the SliQ degreaser (100ml) into the cleaning canister and seal the cap. Agitate the cleaning solution by shaking the bottle in an up and down motion not from side to side. Shake for about 30 seconds, open the lid and give the bearings a spin to free up any debris and recap the canister. Shake until you are satisfied that your bearings are cleaned completely. To make sure they are clean spin the bearings on the axle. The degreaser can be filtered through a coffee filter or a thick paper towel and reused. Maybe a couple of time depending on how dirty your bearings are. 3. Remove the bearings from the axle and rinse them in warm soapy water, yes water, I know that sounds wrong but trust me. Agitate the bearings to ensure they are thoroughly clean and the degreaser has been removed. Dry with a clean lint free towel. 4. It is important to dry your bearings before applying the SliQ lubricant and I have found the most effective method for doing this is to use a hair dryer. Simply blow dry your bearings. Now they can get hot depending on how hot your blow dryer is and you may need to use a pair of pliers to hold them whilst drying. Spin the bearings frequently to ensure they are thoroughly dry. 5. Once the bearings are clean and dry, the next step is to lubricate them. I have found through the years of testing that SliQ lubricant is the best light synthetic oil lubricant for your skate bearings. Put three drops of the lubricant per bearing and spin the bearing between your fingers to distribute the lubricant throughout the entire bearing. If you have ceramics, just two drops of lubricant maybe sufficient. Do not over apply the lubricant and wipe any excess off with a clean lint free cloth or paper towel. 6. The next step is to put the rubber shields into position. They should just slip right into place with very little force. Occasionally you will see a wrinkle along the inner race edge. To get rid of this, simply run your thumb over it lightly in a circular fashion. Now you’re ready to install the bearings back into the wheel.

Remember to not over tighten your bearings when re-fitting them as this will slow you down but ensure they are securely fitted.

Now you can go enjoy yourself on your newly serviced bearings which should feel good as new again.
